從過去經驗看，「S」款iPhone向來能提高蘋果的利潤，因此有分析師說，新推出的iPhone 5s將在未來幾季把蘋果的毛利率推向40%。

富國證券（Wells Fargo Securities）分析師烏姆（Maynard Um）預期，蘋果12月的整體毛利率將達到39.6%，且在明年3月截止的下一季，產品保證成本降低將使毛利率攀至40%。

如果這項預測正確，那將是蘋果整體毛利率自2012年9月以來首度超過40%。去年秋季推出全新改款的iPhone 5，和強調價格競爭力的iPad mini，使蘋果毛利率大幅滑落。

從蘋果推出iPhone 3G、iPhone 4和iPhone 5，可以明顯看出蘋果毛利率下滑的趨勢；但在推出iPhone 3GS和iPhone4S時，毛利率都呈現回升。

蘋果毛利率最高點出現在2012年度第2季，是在推出iPhone4S後，毛利率達到47.4%；2013年度第3季降至36.9%。
