桂綸鎂從小就喜歡獨處，「我嘗試過最長的時間是７天，這７天可以完全不見人，不跟人說話。」她說：「不是為了修行，覺得這平靜對我非常重要。即使沒有音樂、電視、手機、書或任何消遣娛樂都可以，我就是可以一個人，發呆放空睡覺，頂多只有吃飯喝水，其他東西不太需要。」

身為金馬影后，她還想跨界演出，「我一直非常想要演舞台劇，舞台劇跟電影不同，演員可以靠剪接、靠音樂、靠攝影完成畫面，可是舞台劇是扎扎實實站在台上，靠的是跟其他演員的化學反應，甚至跟觀眾的呼吸都是有連結的。」
